My Story - Dr. LeTicia L. Currin, DBA

My biological mother dealt with many medical challenges and was advised not to have children. There would have been too great a risk. Six months after I was born, my mother passed away from medical complications. I was raised by my grandmother until I was 4, when my father remarried and his wife legally adopted me.

In my early 20s’ I fell in love and got pregnant. I wanted to keep it. He didn’t. The relationship was abusive and I suffered a blow to the stomach and a miscarriage at 11 weeks. I was devastated.

At the age of 36 I met and married the love of my life, my greatest gift. I couldn’t wait to start a family with my husband, but because of my own health challenges, we knew it wouldn't be easy. We started on the path of most couples wanting to conceive. After six months of trying to no avail, we sought the help of my doctor, we went through a series of testing and was told to see a specialist.

We consulted with our Pastor and contacted the referred specialist. The journey from 2008 - 2015 included tests, surgical procedures, (5) IUI's,

(6) IVF’s, Prayer, Fasting, Anointing with oil. We worked with (3) different practices and the closest we came ended with a (5) day hospitalization during Thanksgiving and broken hearts.

In 2016 we decided to stop the treatments and continue to believe God for a miracle. In the interim we were blessed with (2) fur-babies, but still longed for our own biological child. I started to lose faith and questioned God for the next few years. In 2019, it all changed, (2) emergency surgeries and the last one ended any chance of being able to conceive naturally. Where was God? All of the prophecies, prayers, words spoken, I couldn’t find not one to hold on to. But then it hit me, and when I changed my prayer something happened. I realized that God never left me, he was there all the time.
